Name_Your_Page_Wisely

Search engines look at the title of the html file when trying to get an accurate page when doing a search.  To prove this, go to google and search for something, anything, say “how to cook a turkey” without the quotations.  This returns 35 million results.  Look at the results and you’ll find that on the first page along where the html file name is, many of the results have howtocookaturkey or how_to_cook_a_turkey right in the name of the html file.  So, when trying to get hits for a specific phrase or keyword, remember that naming the html file with what you want to be searched for.  This should be high in your criteria when designing your website or a page on your website.

Get Links to Your Site

Work on getting your site linked to from other websites.   This will improve your sites value and google ranking.  You can do this by convincing other site owners to include your page on their site’s “link” page possibly by offering a link exchange.  You post their link if they post yours.  If your site is not very trafficked you will have a hard time getting some site owners to post your link.  You can find sites willing to do this by going to some sites like linkexchange.com and emailing them about trading links.  Get as many as you can, the more sites linking to your website the better.

Content is King

Make your sure your website has some relative information on who you are targeting.  Remember “Content is King”  on the internet.  What this means is that although all these other SEO ”tricks” will get you some results, nothing is better than having a relative website with relative information.  You don’t want people to land on your website expecting to get an answer for whatever search criteria they had in mind and find nothing relative to what they were looking for.   They should find something usefull on there and this will also help with SEO.  Google will crawl through your pages looking for matching words and phrases that meet the user search criteria.  “Content is King.”
